Ideas about simple living, saving money, low-impact environmental practices, urban farming, and preparation for an uncertain future
About
My name is Emily, I live in Montana, and I'd like to welcome you to my blog. I am on a journey to live simply and independently of the system. In an effort to save money, I grow and preserve my own food, fix things that break, and make things from scratch. Instead of having a 9-5 job working for The Man, I strive to create flexibility with my time by being self-employed and working part-time.
I have always dreamed of running my own little homestead. Since I do not own much, including my own property, I am innovating my own style of Urban Farming by foraging, bartering, participating in a Community Garden, and growing gardens on other peoples' property. I am passionate about wildlife and the outdoors and get out every day to enjoy the world around me. I make conscious decisions in my daily activities to lower my impact on the planet. Among my other environmentally-sensitive pursuits, I share a car with my partner, often commute by bike, try not to participate in the American consumer culture, and live in a small apartment. I hope that the tips and stories shared on Living Lightly in a Wavering World will help others to live more sustainably.
